It picks up small bits along the baseboards and transitions from rug to floor without having to change settings...it doesn't have settings. Like others indicated, it is quite loud, but soon, the ears get used to it. The first vacuum I received had a problem with the switch.

Just bought a G Tech K9 cordless vacuum and the G tech Multi. Very impressed with them both. My only one niggle is the run time on the k9. It seems to give you about 20 to 25 mins before the battery needs to be charged.
